Summer is just around the corner and that means bored kids looking for something to do. Stop the boredom and let me help you out with a handful of my favorite Meridian Idaho summer fun activities to do that are all FREE!!

Leaving the Barber Park launch site on the Boise River.

 1. Float the Boise River

First of all, A must-do summer tradition for the Jensen family (and more than 125,000 other people). The Boise River Float is really accessible and a ton of fun. Floaters put in at Barber Park in south Boise and take out at Ann Morrison Park near downtown Boise (about 6 miles). Barber Park has air stations, a raft and tube rental and a shuttle bus service. The float takes approximately 2-3 hours. Raft and Tube Rental Information, please click here or call 208-577-4588 (to speak with someone) or 208-577-4584 (Information line).

2. Take in a concert, play, or musical at Meridian City Hall

Another one of our favorite summer festivities are the Meridian Arts Commission Concerts on Broadway series. And this summer (2018) they have added two theatrical performances from local theater companies! All performances are held in the Meridian City Hall plaza area. I recommend you bring folding chairs, a blanket, and picnic. A food truck is typically on site selling delicious food and a local nonprofit provides bottled water for a donation.

4. Water Gun Wars at Kleiner Park or Settler’s Park Splash Pads

The kids love the (free) Splash Pad at both of Meridian’s largest community parks, but the Jensen’s like to take the fun to the next level with a water gun war! Be sure to pack the sunscreen and a picnic for this fun, free summer activity.

5. Bike the Boise Greenbelt

Finally pump up the tires and get on the Greenbelt for nearly 25 miles of adventure! If you’ve never explored the Boise Greenbelt, you’ll be delighted by the smoothly paved path, changes in landscape, scenery, and wonderful, shaded spots and stops along the journey. Reminder to yield to pedestrians and be kind to other path users. For a map and brochure, visit this link.
